Now custodians of this beautiful property, we continue to nurture the vines with the same dedication and attention to detail. Carefully selected parcels from the finest blocks of this vineyard were chosen for this special release.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMatured for twenty-four months in French oak, the wine shows perfume, toasty notes, and excellent balance. Black cherries, plums, and ripe red berries dominate the palate, lifted by the distinctive spice and freshness that define Schaefer Shiraz.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdditional maturation in tank prior to release has harmonised the components, enhancing the prestige of this complex yet graceful wine. Patient cellaring will be rewarded, with the wine expected to evolve beautifully for up to 20 years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eWinemaking Notes\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePerfectly ripe grapes were destemmed and fermented to dryness for 12 days on skins with regular pumpovers to promote colour and tannin extraction, followed by pressing. Once referred to as “Clare Valley’s Grange”, the Aberfeldy label is a commitment to quality and a very special wine that has been in our portfolio since Tim established his own brand in 1987.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVintage 2020 is the 29th release of the Aberfeldy and it is another classic release of this iconic label. It has a vibrant deep ruby red hue with aromas of ripe berries, black cherry, plum and chocolate complemented by clove, nutmeg and vanilla oak derived spicy characters. It is full bodied on the palate with dark berry conserve flavours and firm tannins generated from the warm, dry growing season leading in to vintage, with a precise balance between sweet fruit and spicy oak flavours and power and finesse.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is elegant enough to enjoy now, yet also has the structure to be kept for up to 25 years in good conditions. Much thought was given to where each variety would be planted, and this saw the Riesling block thrive on a mixture of clay, loam and shale with an ideal easterly aspect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor over 30 years, this vineyard has been meticulously cared for, attention being paid to shoot positioning, sun exposure, ideal canopy size and cropping levels . This careful management has produced fruit that earns a home in a special release wine - the single vineyard Skilly Ridge Riesling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"woocommerce-product-details__winemaking_notes additional_row\"\u003e\n\u003ch4 class=\"heading\"\u003eWinemaking Notes\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHarvested in the crisp early morning of 23rd February 2024, the fruit was immediately crushed, chilled, de-juiced and then clarified. Only free-run juice was used to ensure purity and to minimise grape phenolics uptake during the pressing cycle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe clarified juice was then inoculated with a neutral cultured yeast and steadily fermented for two weeks at 12-14C.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFollowing fermentation, the wine was left sitting on the fine  lees for 24 months in a similar way done with some of the greatest Rieslings from Germany and the lees mixed occasionally to improve the richness on the palate and help preserve the freshness of the wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wine was filtered and bottled in April 2026.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"woocommerce-product-details__growing_conditions additional_row\"\u003e\n\u003ch4 class=\"heading\"\u003eGrowing Conditions\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2024 Skilly Ridge Riesling is the\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e7th\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003erelease of this special wine and from another outstanding vintage with great growing and ripening conditions for Riesling. The core of the wine is built by citric fruit ( lemon, lime, grapefruit), with layers of white flowers and perfumed notes.
